A 3-week break for some time in Hawaii was great and much needed after a year of Covid-19, but feels like it cost me some momentum on HPHS.    Getting back into the swing takes a little time but I'm getting there!    Happy Place Home Studio for me is a journey that includes re-visiting some modern online disciplines that I never fully dealt with in my business lift - such as SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and what it takes to publicize a thing online.   Of course, HPHS is not a business, and I'm really just trying to let people know it's there!    I think a lot of people have home  studios, and are eager to share information.  Of course, HPHS is one of dozens of channels doing very similar things.   Fortunately, the subject area is so vast that there's room for all.

Another re-visit of the past I'm really enjoying right now is digging out my TEAC A4010SL reel to reel tape recorder, circa 1970.   It's over 50 years old.   It is an heirloom of our family that came from my Uncle Patrick, who did very young at 24 years in 1977.    He was 8 years older than me (I was 16 when he passed), and I did not know him well - but I feel I would have.   He was a musician and owned a music store in Pullman, WA. where he went to school.   I "inherited" the tape deck when my grandmother Grace asked me to see if I could salvage his songs from the tapes.   I did so as one of my first studio projects, but I'm embarking on the journey again because I feel I can improve on my work of 20 years ago - and I intend to publish his songs online.    Patrick was a superb guitarist.

He was barely one generation ahead of me, but what a huge difference in music and recording technology.   Yet, I love working with the TEAc.   There's a warmth to the media even 50 years later.    I can imagine him sitting alone or with a friend in front of the old microphones, playing through the complex tunes - with no room for a mistake.

The results of my current effort will show up in a few months, but I'll be enjoying the process between now and then - and documenting it for Happy Place Home Studio.
